Blecher Excels at National Junior T&F Championships

The Australian Junior (Under 13 to Under 18) Track and Field Championships were held in Brisbane from Thursday 13th – Sunday 16th April.
Club under 16 athlete Ben Blecher ran a sensational PB in the 400m finishing 4th in his heat and clocking 53.05sec. This time now ranks Ben 11th in Australia in his age group for the 400m. Ben doubled up the next day to again record a PB in the 200m with a time of 23.66sec.

NSW under 18 javelin champion, and Maccabiah Games junior gold medallist, Tali Baltineshter, continues winning medals – and it was gold again in the Australian championships with a throw of 49.05m.

Huge congratulations to Tali and Ben.

The Athletics Victoria cross country season gets underway this coming weekend with the Jells Park relay. The draft cross country timetable can be downloaded here:  https://athsvic.org.au/xcr_2023/

In preparation for the new season, the club has been in touch with a number of Jewish distance runners – many who have committed to run with the club through the cross country season. One of these athletes is Elliot Kagan- Gescheit who ran a remarkable 2 hours 46min 59 seconds for his first ever marathon – the Canberra Marathon held on Sunday 16th April. What a great run!
