Maccabi Athletes Brave the Cold At Sandown Relays
A cold and windy, but not too wet Saturday, greeted the teams competing in the XCR round 5 Sandown Relays.
Maccabi welcomed first time club competitors Jason Blankfield and Aran Haupt, who joined Shanie Landen and Julien Schulberg in the division 5, 4 x 6.2k relay.
It was great running by all the team with Shanie (22.28) leading off and handing the “baton” to Aran who ran a very smooth and controlled 22.44. Jason (25.59) was next as he settled into a strong run as the wind picked up, and Julien then brought the team home with a solid 21.53 in the blustery conditions.
The overall team time was 1hour 33 min 04 seconds- beating home the 6th placed team by 4 seconds! and missing 3rd place by merely 27 seconds!
Thanks to coach Ilia who managed the team on the day!
